CleanDesktop · HobbySoft OÜ · Last updated 23 October 2026
In short: CleanDesktop has no account, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. What you file stays on your Mac: the app moves and saves things between your own folders and never uploads them. It goes online for two things only: checking a Pro license key, if you enter one, and checking for updates.
Who is responsible
HobbySoft OÜ (registry code 16203461), Katusepapi 6, 11412 Tallinn, Estonia. Email contact@hobbysoft.pro.
What stays on your Mac
Your sectors (names, icons and folders), your shortcuts, your settings and, with Pro, your license key and its activation are saved in the app's preferences on your Mac. The files, folders, links, images and text you drop on a sector are moved or saved into that sector's folder on your Mac. None of this is sent to us or anyone else.
CleanDesktop does not need Accessibility or Input Monitoring permission. macOS may ask you to allow access to folders such as Documents or Desktop the first time a sector files into them; that access is used only to file what you drop.
License check (Pro only)
When you enter a Pro license key, CleanDesktop sends it to Lemon Squeezy (api.lemonsqueezy.com), the merchant of record that sells the license, to activate it on this Mac. With the key it sends your Mac's name, as set in System Settings → General → Sharing, so you can tell your activations apart. Lemon Squeezy replies with whether the key is valid and the email address the license was bought with, which is shown in Settings → Pro.
About once a week the app checks that the activation still holds, sending the key and the activation's ID. Deactivating in Settings → Pro sends the same and frees the activation. Without a license key, none of these requests are made.
Legal basis: performing the license you bought (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)). Lemon Squeezy processes this data, and the details of your purchase, under its own privacy policy.
Update checks
Once a day, and when you choose Check for Updates, CleanDesktop downloads its update feed from hobbysoft.pro, and downloads an update from there if you install one. Updates are signed, and the app installs none that are not. No system profile or usage data is sent with these requests.
Like any web server, hobbysoft.pro records standard access logs for these requests: IP address, date and time, the requested file and the user agent, which names the app and its version. They are used only to keep the service secure and working, and are deleted on a rolling basis. Legal basis: legitimate interest in delivering secure updates (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
Buying a license and downloading
Payment, tax and receipts are handled by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record; we receive the order details it shares with sellers, such as your name, email address and country, and use them to support your license and meet accounting obligations (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) and (c)). Downloading the app and visiting this site are covered by the website privacy notice.
When you email us
If you write to contact@hobbysoft.pro, we use your name, address and message to answer you. Legal basis: GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) and (f).
How long data is kept
Data on your Mac stays until you delete it: uninstall the app and remove its preferences, or deactivate the license first to free the activation. Server logs are deleted on a rolling basis. Support emails and order records are kept as long as needed to help you and as accounting law requires.
Children
CleanDesktop is a general-purpose utility, not directed at children, and collects no personal data from anyone through the app itself.
Your rights
You can ask for access to, correction or deletion of your data, restrict or object to its processing, and receive it in a portable form. Write to contact@hobbysoft.pro. You can also complain to the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (aki.ee) or the authority in your country.
Changes
If what the app sends changes, this page is updated before the release that changes it, with a new date at the top.
